Embarking on new projects with boundless enthusiasm often fuels the spark within us. However, without discernment, this enthusiasm can lead to burnout and frustration. Join me as I share my journey to finding balance between dream-chasing and practical execution using the S.I.M.P.L.E. system.
Self-Discovery & Shine
I have always been captivated by new ideas and projects—a dopamine-driven passion that fuels my creativity and excitement. Dreamers, with their vibrant visions, ignite a unique spark within me. As they paint their dreams, my mind leaps into overdrive, mapping out the steps to bring their vision to life. For me, this process feels natural, almost like a superpower. However, I stumbled upon a crucial realization: this ease doesn't extend to everyone. This assumption—that everyone shares this innate ability—has led me into unexpected trouble.
Through self-reflection, I've discovered that this assumption often places undue pressure on both the dreamer and myself. I recognized a pivotal moment when I had to step back and acknowledge that while my process feels intuitive, others may struggle with it. This revelation marked the beginning of my healing journey—one where I embraced my unique ability while seeking to understand and appreciate diverse approaches to creativity and execution.
Insight & Integrity
Understanding the power of discernment in partnerships became a key insight on this path. My overzealous YES has frequently landed me in precarious situations. I used to say yes to half-formed ideas without a concrete plan, assuming the dreamer had all the answers. Often, dreamers possess only a vague idea of what the journey entails.
As a doer, I would enthusiastically charge ahead, only to find myself holding the obligation alone. This experience led to resentment, hurt feelings, and burnout. I realized that my integrity was being tested each time I failed to align my enthusiasm with a clear understanding of what the partnership entailed. Through this insight, I learned to value my contributions and to ensure that any project aligns with my vision and values.
Mindset, Mindfulness, & Meditation
Shifting my mindset has been instrumental in this journey. I began valuing my own contributions, no longer seeking validation solely from external sources. This change allowed me to approach projects with a balanced perspective, considering the energy exchange involved. My time, energy, and resources became valuable commodities that deserved respect.
Practicing mindfulness and meditation helped me respect my boundaries and evaluate whether a project truly moves me closer to my personal vision. This internal reflection enabled me to assess if the project aligns with my long-term goals, allowing me to contribute meaningfully and authentically.
Pathways & Potential
My journey has been littered with missteps, misunderstandings, and hurt feelings. Today, I've reached a place where discernment plays a central role in every decision. Learning to pause, slow down, and ask questions for clarity and understanding has become my practice.
This path of discernment isn't without discomfort. Dreamers may perceive my inquiries as dampening their enthusiasm. However, this inquiry process remains essential. It serves as a tool for caution, not fear. By asking thoughtful questions, I ensure that both parties are aligned and committed to the journey ahead.
Love, Liveliness, & Legacy
When it comes to joining new projects, I've become more discerning about choosing partners. In the past, I rarely held others accountable, assuming they were as committed as I was. This lack of communication led to assumption-based collaboration, resulting in misunderstandings and emotional turmoil.
Recognizing the need for authentic connections, I learned to ask the necessary questions: "What role will you play in this project?" "How will we support each other?" By doing so, both parties operate from a place of understanding rather than assumption. This approach fosters stronger relationships and enables the creation of projects that are infused with love and liveliness—a legacy of meaningful collaboration.
Envision & Embolden
Before launching any project, I now prioritize clarity and understanding. Difficult conversations, held at the outset, help distinguish dreamers from committed action-takers. Building an effective team from the beginning increases the project's success rate, reducing misunderstandings and fostering a harmonious, empowered environment.
Maintaining high energy levels and crossing the finish line as a cohesive unit becomes achievable when there's transparency from the start. I encourage others to embrace this approach, inviting them to be part of projects where each member's contributions are valued and respected.
